When your a kid, grandparents are the next best thing to a jar full of candy! I was reading the other day about the meaning of Grandparents' Day and really...the overall purpose is to tap the wisdom of our elders, and hand down family values. My Gamie and Pa are gone now, and have been since the mid 80's, but I will never forget what they taught me and the times we shared. I am so fortunate that my children will have those special memories with you as I did mine.
Friday, was Grandparents' Day at Jake's school. I never remember having those when I was a child....but Jake was so excited for them to come. I asked him that night, "did you have a good time with them today at school?".....he said, with such excitement " yes, it was GREAT!" I really have never heard him say something like that before....about anything other than a toy anyway! I asked him, what he thought Grandparents Day was~ what do they mean to you? He said, "grandparents are easy to love because you can count on them no matter what, and because they love me." I know years from now, he will never remember that. But, it was so nice to hear him actually being sweet and nice.....usually he isn't like that.....well he NEVER is like that. Only at bedtime when he is trying to sleep with mommy and daddy!
Here are some pictures of them at school Friday...
