Grand Nationals

Labor Day week-end we headed up to Louisville, KY for the end of the 2010 season of BMX racing at the Grand Nationals. This is where all the NBL racers come from all over the country to race and see who is the best! We knew Jake would not be at his full potential after recovering from his broken collarbone for the last 2 months, but just for the experience and thrill of it we all wanted to go. In order to make it to Sunday's main, he had to race 3 races and be in the top 4.... there was 20, age 7 rookies, and 5 racers in a moto. There were 342 motos and start from oldest riders to youngest..Jake's moto was 333.....A LONG WAIT in between races...lots of PLAY TIME...... Long story short, Jake jammed his thumb really bad right before his 3rd moto race and ended up not qualifying for the grand mains:( Sept. 18th is the Tennessee State Championship race and hopefully no more injuries before then!!!

Before 2nd race, Rex was crying cause he wanted to race so bad! Didn't understand why he couldn't go out there, he was a big boy too! This Sunday we are going to start letting him race in local races, he loves the track and wants his OWN TROPHY! lol Obviously, not any other children his age to race so he goes with the 5 and under group. He is just going to stroll around the track like he does in practice, but will get a trophy! I still have yet to get a video of him, but we got a ramp for Jake to practice on and he is jumping the ramp at home now too! My little Racer Rex

Before Jake's 2nd race

I wanted to give him a good luck kiss, but settled for a picture with my big racing boy!

Jake with his buddy Zack, who is a 7 year old expert racer, he placed 3rd in National race! Then Matthew in the back, who started racing at 3 also....he is now 5.
